It doesn’t matter if you’re 5 or 15, it doesn’t matter if you’re a complete beginner or pulling off super tricks, it doesn’t matter if you skate or scoot… everyone should wear a helmet because it could save you from a terrible injury, disability or even death! It’s the smart thing to do. It’s what Helmet Heroes do.

Our 3 Helemt Hero Rules

1. Certify It

What does that mean? It means you need to make sure your helmet meets certain safety standards. Look fora sticker or note on the helmet or in the box to be sure. Heroes wear certified Helemts. been put through special safety checks

2. Size It

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes - and therefore Helemets do too. You need to make sure it's not to big or small and that it fits in the right place. This means making sure it doesn't cover your eyes or ears and doesn't flop around.

3. Secure It

There's no point in having a Heroes Helmet if it's not secure. Adjust the padding inside to fit you perfectly and always adjust the straps so that the Helmet is secure on your head. If the buckle gets broken - replace it.

So you’re going to be a Hero and wear a Helmet to stay safe – that’s great! Now it’s time to choose your style! You can even decorate your helmet by drawing on it or adding stickers?

Other Top Safety Tips

Other Safety Gear

Helmets might be the most important but don't forget to wear your other safety gear if it's appropriate to your sport. For example skateboard and scooter riders should definitely consider wearing wrist protection, as well as knee and elbow pads. Feel free to check out Accessories in our Shop.

Check Your Equipment

Whatever sport you enjoy, you need to make sure your equipment is well maintained. So check the brake on your scooter or bicycle, check the wheels on your skateboard, keep an eye out for rust or excessive wear-and-tear and make sure everything is working properly.

Get Some Lessons

If you want to improve your riding confidence and skills, then the best thing to do is get some coaching. Good courses include Bikeability, Scootability and Skateability. What's great is that you can do it with all your friends if your school books a session.

Wear The Right Clothes

Whether you are going to ride at night or in the day - whether you'll be on the road or pavement - it is crucial that you wear a high visibility vest so that you can be easily seen by drivers and other pedestrians.
